We spent two years testing it through Eastern Sierra winters, dialing in a relaxed fit that leaves room for layers and refining the fabric so the hoodie doesn't feel like a crunchy, hard shell ski jacket. Wear it over a base layer on milder days, or add a warmer layer underneath when the forecast turns.
What does the DWR finish do?
The Coaster’s fabric has a DWR (durable water-repellent) finish that helps moisture bead up and roll off the surface. Paired with its 5,000 mm waterproof-rated fabric, it’s made for days on snow while keeping the soft feel and stretch of a hoodie. It’s weather-resistant riding gear, which is not the same as super expensive 3 Layer Gore-Tex, so it might not be the right choice in downpour. However, it's the perfect choice for slushy spring days or mid-winter park laps.
Pockets that make sense on the mountain
The zippered pouch pocket keeps small essentials more secure than an open kangaroo pocket when you’re moving. There’s also a low-profile wrist pass pocket, so your lift pass is right where you need it for another lap. We didn't feel the need to add more pockets, the two pocket system is enough for most people and extra pockets just add extra cost.
